Romans 8:26-28
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
One of the beautiful things about this passage is the wonderful, relational illustration of what prayer is. We are in relationship with a God who sees all things, our hearts included. We have here an amazing illustration of how God works in our heart to teach us what, and how we should pray. He knows our weakness and He reaches into our lives to help us.
We have both knowledge and a confidence that the Spirit of God is praying for us, but also a confidence that He is helping us to pray, to partner with Him. This happens through our relationship, and all the gifts of the Spirit that are given to us. Paul then summarizes this big picture with this amazing statement that “in all things” our loving Father is working “for the good” of His children.
I am so excited to be His partner in life. I have the privilege of working with the Lord of the Universe to see good happen all over the globe, and right here at home. He comes into our lives to help us, and then enables us to partner with Him to help the world. Today, commit again and ask God to fill you with His passion for intimate, loving prayer for your life and world. Get alone with Him and lay down all the burdens this season has put upon you. He is with you in your weakness. He will be there with you, and is always working for your good and those around; let’s be His partner!
