2 Corinthians 11:1-3 I hope you will put up with me in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me! 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
I just want to point out the beauty of the goal of the Apostle Paul’s focus on the Corinthian people. His hope is that they might have a “sincere and pure” devotion to Christ.
While the struggles of life and the temptations of our enemy can distract us from this truth, our Father’s goal for His children is a deep, sincere, and pure devotion to Him. He loves us so much that Jesus came and died for us. He desires our heart’s focus on a pure, focused relationship with Him. Paul sees how the enemy is trying to seduce away the Corinthian church from this clear and central focus and he warns them to keep the main thing central to their living.
Brothers and sisters, today is a day to renew our focus; to see clearly our main goal in life. Father, help me to keep clearly focused on you, having a sincere and pure devotion to my Savior and Lord Jesus. Father, wash me from any temptations that form compromise in my soul. Lord, cleanse me of the impurities that seduce me into a deviated path in life. Lord, I need your beautiful love and grace to fill me. I want a sincere and pure devotion to Christ to be my goal. Love you Father.
