Beholding the Glory of Christ

2 Corinthians 2:17-18  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

In this amazing statement Paul exhorts the Corinthian church to realize what a powerful, glorious, life-changing opportunity that the Lord has made for them. We can “behold” the glory of the Lord.  We can “contemplate” the glory of the Lord (NIV).  Paul has been contrasting the darkness of the law with the amazing glory of the completed work of Christ.  Friends, I want to challenge you to explore the wonderous open pathway of relationship that our Father God has opened to us through His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. We literally have the privilege of growing ever deeper in relationship with God through the person of Christ.  By God’s Spirit, revealed in relationship by that Spirit, found in God’s Word, found in time alone, in prayer, in community is the unveiled face of Jesus Christ.

Do we realize what God is offering here?  Paul concluded this statement by telling us that amazing revelation comes to us from our Lord the Spirit.  He is willing to personally reveal Himself to us in ever increasing degrees.  Do you want Him more?  Take some time to stand on this promise.  Give Him time to form you and reform you.  Exercise that mustard seed of faith that we all have and cry out to know Him more, to see Him more.  The works of the law, religion are not your pathway, but the humble place of love, dependence and seeking the face of Christ in time alone in prayer with God is.  Let’s seek the true treasure of this life and seek the face of Christ.
