2 Cor. 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
In this passage Paul is exhorting the Corinthian church on the radical difference between the old covenant of the Law and the new covenant of Christ.
We who are in Christ have the presence of God living inside of us. There is no separation between us and personal intimacy with the living God. He makes this amazing statement in verse 18: “we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image.” Paul is stating that each person who is in Christ has the privilege, the opportunity, to consider, imagine, behold, view in a mirror the Lord’s glory. This beautiful relationship is transforming us into the image of Christ. We are literally becoming “Christ-ians” as we fix our gaze on Him.
Brothers and sisters, our great opportunity is to be in His presence. I want to encourage you to make your life goal to be in His presence. That is His desire! He wants deep, personal relationship with you. That is why He died for you. You were the joy that was before Him as He endured the cross.
As your read the Word, invite His presence. Imagine Him at work. As you pray, speak personally to Him. Ask for more of Him. As you love those around you, ask for His love to fill you. Consider Him. Imagine Him. Invite Him. Make room for Him. He is so in love with you, you are in for some wonderful changes to come! We are being transformed into His image to reveal Him to this world. Let’s ask for more!
