Matthew 6:25-26: Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Fear is a constant assailant in our culture today. The media uses it, or is used by it, to gain attention and ratings. Politicians use it to advance their cause. All around us the enemy is using it to ignite and advance his cause. In this verse above the Lord Jesus gives us the basic truth for success over fear. This is the place of victory or defeat. We must exercise our free will to focus on the faithful love and care of God. Fix your gaze on your heavenly Father.
He tells us to not be anxious about, focus our thinking on, ruminate on what we will need or what the future will bring. Instead, He challenges us to “Look at,” intentionally fix our thoughts on what our Father has done for us and will do for us. He has constantly taken great care of each of His living creatures and He will care for you.
The lessons that God has taught us, and is teaching us, about His faithful love and care are the place to fix your thoughts today. Let that wonderful peace that passes understanding guard your heart and mind in relationship to Christ Jesus. May your day be filled with peace.
