2 Chronicles 7:13-14 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people,14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselvesand prayand seek my faceand turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Humble repentance and prayer are the call of our day. Do not let fear bind you, but find your strength in seeking the face of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is amazing how specific the promise above is for our day. God is allowing our nation to be shaken with His purpose – that we would unite in humble pursuit of His healing presence and power. A key goal for the Church is to come together to repent and pray. Here are a few key areas to pray for, but the most important aspect is to ask God to guide you and open your heart to Him (seek His face).
God forgive us for how our pride has damaged our nation, forgive us for embracing all kinds of sexual brokenness and lust. Please forgive us as Americans for having the world’s largest porn industry, and please deliver and heal the LGBTQ community. Lord forgive us for the murder of our unborn children. Lord forgive us for worshipping the things our hands have made and putting our trust in them. Lord deliver your Church from pride and institutionalism, restore your glory as the center of your church again. Lord, we desperately need your healing and we bless what you are doing in shaking the very foundations of our nation. Lord return us to you. Unite your Church in humble repentance and prayer. Lord forgive and heal our land.
Isaiah 30:15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.
I pray we can learn from this promise in Isaiah and not make the same mistake the children of Israel made.
