It seems almost impossible to believe but it is true! Jesus longs to release the full power of His life and ministry through us!
John 15:7-8 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
This amazing promise comes to us in a definite context that structures and creates partnership and safety for this kind of powerful release. Jesus put two conditions on this release of power in overcoming prayer.
First, we must remain or abide in Him. Second, we must remain or abide in His words.
The setting of this passage comes to us as Jesus is speaking to His disciples about the vine and the branches and it gives us a dramatic picture for these two conditions. If we, as His people, will form our lives in dependence upon Him, we will have the life of heaven flowing in us. We must be directly finding the source of our life in Him. He is our source; He is our life. We must choose to renounce life that is independent of Him, we must abide in Him.
His word must abide in us. His word becomes our meditation, our consideration on a moment by moment basis. His word becomes the foundation of our choices and intentions. As our lives become wholly dependent on Him and our thoughts revolve, as we constantly consider the truth of His word, we invite the power of Heaven to flow through us! Suddenly, the Kingdom of God breaks out by our prayers.
Dear friends, don’t let the clutter of unanswered prayers in your life discourage you, but rather realize that we must base our lives on Him. We must let the flow of His word fill and define our intercessions. Then, our eyes will be opened, our world will see the in-breaking of His Kingdom.
This life in prayer causes the power of God to flow through you! Pray!
