One Supreme Purpose – To Love God!

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Here are a few ways to invite this greatest of truths to become an increasing reality in your life.

1. Pray for it.  2. Tell your Father that you love Him and are thankful for His care.  Give specific thanks for what God is doing to care for you in your life. 3. Practice loving others. When you see a way that God has loved you, repeat that expression to, or for some other person. Ex. Thank you Father for how kind my friend has been to me.  Now, I will show similar kindness to my co-worker.

A Prayer: Father, I long to be supernaturally filled with Your perfected love and passion for the beloved man, Christ Jesus, that You might be all in all to me.  Grant me a Holy Spirit impartation of Your love for the glorious person who sits at Your right hand and then impart His consuming zeal for You into my heart.

Father, I love you! I give you thanks for… (name 10 different things that you have in your life today. Name 10 different people you are thankful for.)

Now, pick one of these people you have given thanks for and do some thing, some deliberate thing; a text, a gift, a touch, a comment or a kindness that will show love to that person. Even a cup of cold water or a smile can change a person’s day.  May the love of Jesus Christ fill your life.

Join me and make this central truth a daily practice.  You will be greatly blessed if you do.
